What’s behind the term “BDSM”? What does kink mean? How do I play safely and creatively? In our BDSM workshops at Refugium Aschaffenburg, we try to provide answers for people of all experience levels.

Are you a beginner interested in the world of bondage, dominance, and submission? Are you already active and want to learn specific techniques or gain completely different insights into the play of power and trust? At Refugium Aschaffenburg, we create a space where you can explore and learn.

Defining BDSM is a challenge. Literally, BDSM stands for Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism. BDSM thus describes acts, often of a sexual or erotic nature, that involve restraints, power dynamics, or pain.

How this is expressed exactly is highly individual. At Refugium Aschaffenburg, it is important to us to create awareness for this diversity. There is no right or wrong, no “too much” or “too little” – as long as it feels good for those involved.

• Bondage ranges from light restraints to extensive Shibari and motionless restriction.
• Discipline can be expressed in small ways with gentle instructions, or grow into the nuances of highly ritualized play relationships.
• Sadism is expressed through the consensual addition of suffering for one’s own pleasure.
• Masochism describes pleasure through pain. Form and intensity vary greatly.

At Refugium Aschaffenburg, we see BDSM as an open concept that defies a clear definition.

Kink now refers to anything that goes beyond the conventional practices of a heterosexual relationship. In that sense, far more kink is lived than you probably suspect. Kink is outside the norm, always with mutual consent.

This consent is the basic principle of kink, BDSM, and the sex-positive workshops held at Refugium.

• Bullwhip Workshop: Singletail master Ron will show you specifically how to handle the bullwhip safely and sensually.
• “Power” and “Desire” by Andy Buru: Formats for advanced participants who want to discover a completely different kind of power play.

• Kinky Flow: If you want to ease into BDSM, the Kinky Flow workshop offers a low-threshold combination of massage and kink. You need no experience in massage or BDSM.
