Movement for Non-Movers

Haven't really moved in years? This two-day workshop is made for you! Stefano Taiuti gently guides people with little or no movement experience back into their bodies: no pressure, no performance, just a real reconnection with how it feels to move.

Maybe you’ll even discover some joy? Let’s find out.

Movement For Non-Movers is right for you if:

… sit a lot and want to move more again.

… have little or no experience with movement, dance or bodywork.

… feel stiff, disconnected or unsure where to even start.

… are curious to explore what movement can do for you and your wellbeing.

… want to reconnect with your body without judgment or pressure.

Description:

Maybe you’re sitting at a desk all day. Maybe it’s been years since you really moved your body. Maybe you’ve never thought of yourself as someone who “moves” at all. Maybe you’re curious to explore how movement can help improve your wellbeing – but with joy, not pressure. Great news: This workshop is exactly for you.

Over two afternoons, Stefano Taiuti offers a warm, down-to-earth way back into your own body. There’s no choreography to learn, nothing to get “right”, and no one watching to judge. Instead, you’ll explore movement from the inside – through sensation, attention and gentle curiosity – and discover that your body has far more to offer than you might think.

You’ll turn into a curious researcher, expertly guided by Stefano.

Stefano knows this path from his own experience: he didn’t start moving until his early twenties, and went on to become a dancer and performer. Today he teaches people of every background and ability, and he has a rare gift for meeting each person exactly where they are.

What you’ll take home

  • a first felt sense of what it means to come back into movement
  • more ease and awareness in your everyday body
  • simple tools to keep exploring on your own, at home
  • the experience that moving can feel good – without pressure or performance
  • more confidence and less fear of “doing it wrong”

What awaits you

Each session begins with a gentle warm-up and moves into guided exploration – always at a pace that fits the group. There is floorwork (working on the ground).
If floorwork sounds intimidating, don’t worry! Nothing here is set in stone. Stefano adapts the structure, intensity and exercises to the people who show up. What happens in the room grows out of who’s in it. So you’re never pushed beyond what feels right for you.

What people say:

“I move around so little in everyday life, and through this kind of work I felt how much more body work and movement would do me good. I could really feel how my muscles first tensed and then relaxed so beautifully.”
– Stella

“The deepening of my own body awareness and the release of movement blocks that had rusted in place over many years – exactly what I’d hoped for was fully met.”
– Sven

About the facilitator:

Stefano Taiuti is a performance artist, Butoh dancer and bodyworker. He came to movement later than most – in his early twenties – which is part of why he’s so at home working with people who are just beginning. For over 30 years he has been exploring the body in motion, trained with renowned mime teachers and Butoh masters, and developed his own methodology integrating western movement analysis with Butoh.

The Refugium founders Jay & Christian first met him as an instructor at the Lomi Ausbildung Berlin and brought him to Aschaffenburg for a first workshop in May 2026.
